Long Road Racing Expands Program and Staff

RALEIGH, N.C.--Mazda Miatas might be small cars, but business is big for Long Road Racing. The Raleigh-based Miata specialists are growing, adding key staff members and preparing to move into a larger facility.

Long Road Racing specializes in race car services and preparation, trackside support, Spec Miata rentals, race team management services, and transportation and logistic services. In addition, they also offer maintenance, repair and performance tuning upgrades for all sports cars.

The controlled growth of Long Road Racing features several key additions. The planned 16,000-square-foot shop--more than twice the size of the current location--will feature a four-wheel-drive Dyno, the only such machine in Raleigh.

Expanding the Team!

Daniel Jang joins the staff to handle development of Long Road Racing's GRAND-AM series competition. He will also oversee the servicing and tuning of the higher-end cars at Long Road Racing.

Jang has a wealth of formula and sports car expertise with skills in fabrication, chassis setup, composites and logistics. He was worked on virtually every Mazda in production and has racing experience that includes Spec Miata, SPEED World Challenge, and GRAND-AM. Jang currently works with Freedom Autosport, a Long Road Racing customer and one of the top Mazda teams in GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

"Daniel's experience with formula cars, his attention to detail, and his engineering expertise are key factors to his value at Long Road Racing," says Glenn Long, owner of Long Road Racing. "He's an amazing talent and an important addition to Long Road Racing."

"My goal with Long Road Racing is to continue their success in 'Winning with Personal Service' while expanding the available services," says Jang. "As a racing technician, I continually aim to make everything better, faster and more efficient, so Long Road Racing's expansion represents a new and exciting challenge not only from a technical standpoint, but also from a management and logistics angle, as well."

Also joining Long Road Racing's staff is Mark Canup. "Mark has vast Miata experience, and he's a great asset to us," says Long. "He has a background in circle track racing, which brings a different perspective to our team."

Jang and Canup join an exceptional team at Long Road Racing. Currently at Long Road Racing are Rob Greenwood, who handles preparation of the GRAND-AM program; Doug Beckett, who is the GRAND-AM car chief and oversees the street and race car maintenance programs; and Tom Long, who is team manager for both Long Road Racing and Freedom Autosport.
