LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be the site of the Gift of Life Walk to benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Nevada on Saturday, August 5.The National Kidney Foundation of Nevada will benefit from the event, which includes a 3.1-mile run on the 1.5-mile superspeedway and a one-mile non-competitive walk held on the 1.1-mile infield road course. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 8 a.m. There will be a post-walk ceremony at 10 a.m. to recognize top runners and fundraisers. Dialysis and transplant patients will join the Las Vegas community in the walk.

The Gift of Life Walk is designed to increase awareness of organ donation and the prevention of kidney and urinary diseases. According to the National Kidney Foundation of Nevada, more than 80,000 people die each year from kidney and urinary tract disease.

Currently in Nevada, 3,000 people are on dialysis with over 200 people waiting for kidney transplants. The National Kidney Foundation of Nevada is funded by public support.
