Montreal, June 12, 2003 - Young and talented drivers... An impressive $20,000 prize fund... packed grandstands...television... All the ingredients are in place to make a fantastic success of the third round of the Canadian Formula Ford Championship. The setting is Saturday afternoon at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve during the prestigious Formula 1 Grand Prix Air Canada.
Many drivers are worth watching in this very important race, including the runner-up in the Formula Ford Regional Championship: Olivier Comeau. The 19-year old driver Sherbrooke, Quebec, intends to drive his Van Diemen/Location Pelletier/Key Motorsport to victory on the 4.4-kilometre long Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. "I feel pretty good about this race. Key Motorsport has a lot of experience on it. There are three long straights. We need to be very good in the last corner that precedes each straight and get back on the power as soon as possible. Formula Ford always features close racing and this race will be no different," said Comeau.
Saint-Bruno's driver, Antoine Bessette (SAPL/Elan International/Groupe Bessette), will be driving a second Key Motorsport car in practice and qualifying sessions only, as he also participates at the Fran-Am 2000 Championship.
The 15-lap event will go green Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
