BRANNAM HONORED FOR 5TH STRAIGHT YEAR
Multi time racing champion, Jessica Brannam, was once again recognized as one of the top International female racers at the 2008 "Women In The Winner's Circle" luncheon. Just like last year, this year's celebration took place at the world famous, Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"Women In The Winner's Circle" is the brain child of Lyn St James. Ms. St James, a former racer herself, has put together this program to help women drivers gain exposure and recognition for their accomplishments. In the male dominated sport of racing, women drivers are sometimes overlooked. This luncheon is meant to put successful women drivers in front of the media and people of influence in racing.
At the tender age of 17, Jessica is already a veteran of this event. 2008 marked the 5th straight year Jessica has been an honoree at this prestigious event. Jessica had this to say about the event, "I think what Lyn is doing is GREAT! I know first hand how tough it is for women races to get any recognition for their accomplishments." She continued, "Even with all of the success I have had I have a very hard time getting sponsors and race teams to give me a second look. My favorite thing to say is, if it is a male dominated sport, why am I always dominating?"
Brannam has been racing for 8 years and has enjoyed tremendous success. In her short career she has accumulated 34 championships and 194 feature race wins. She also hold countless track record times and fastest time of the race records. Jessica has also been named "Driver Of The Year" and "Rookie Of The Year" in every type of machine she has raced.
Jessica is a very diverse driver. She has won races in go karts on every type of track as well as formula cars and dirt sprint cars. In a few weeks, Jessica will add desert racing to her impressive resume. She will be driving a Ford F250 for Glacier Bear Racing. Jessica will be competing in the "Best Of The Desert" championship. This race will take drivers from Las Vegas to Reno over a grueling 500 mile course.
So far in 2008, Jessica is leading the points standings in 3 divisions and is in the top 3 in two more.
Jessica's plans for 2009 are to race in the "Star Mazda Pro Series". Jessica and a Star Mazda team are working very closely trying to secure financing needed to compete in the 2009 season. Given the proper opportunity Jessica has already proven she can be a success in whatever she drives.
