Luca Casadei Exalts in Monza: The Fastest- Lap, 1st in The Under 25 Category and 4th Overall.
Luca has just ended the season in the Renault Clio Cup perfectly. At the last round in Monza, the driver form Forli, Italy got his best result ever this season: He finished 4th overall, was 1st in the under 25 category and set the fast lap.
He could have fought for the victory, had he not gone off track during the fist lap. During the qualifying session, Luca proved that he was in tip top shape and full of energy after winning the European vice champion title in Hockenheim last week. Luca took advantage of Cirò's slipstream (the slipstream is very influential on the Monza track) and set the third fast time just minutes before the end of the session.
At the start, Luca's hesitancy makes him lose 2 positions and worse makes him get involved in an accident that sends him go off track. At the end of the first lap, Luca dropped down to the 13th place. However, Luca did not lose sight of his objective; he climbed his way up and set the fastest time with 2'12''229. His climb up is unstoppable; 5th with 2 laps to go and 4th at the last lap. Luca did his best to try to conquer the podium.
At the last lap, Luca tries to overtake Scilla who in turn closes in on him. Consequently, Luca throws himself on the gravel and this makes him lose the 3rd place by just 2 tenths of a second. However this is still a memorable race that ended the season on a high note.
The 18 year old who competed for 2 seasons with a single-seater, had a few problems getting used to the touring cars at the start of the season. But after a training period, Casadei started getting good results: he conquered the vice European title and is 3rd in the under 25 category of the Renault Clio Cup Italy.
All this thanks to Luca and to the Rangoni Motorsport team that helped him grow race after race with a technically challenging car.
"I think this is my best race of the season and if I hadn't had that accident, I would have probably won. It was a very positive season for me. It started off with a few problems but it ended perfectly.I would like to thank all of the Rangoni Motorsport team and in particular Michel Rangoni that taught me the secrets of this category and of the car that were a mystery to me. Without their technical help, I wouldn't have made it. Moreover I would like to thank all of my sponsors for their encouragement and support during the good and bad times. Last but not least, I need to thank Giovanni Minardi who is organizing my career in best of ways and that will lead me to becoming professional. Now, it's time for me to think of the upcoming season.
