HEARTLAND PARK JUNIOR RACERS TRY TO TAME THE MOUNTAIN

TOPEKA, Kan. (July 27, 2005) - Junior drag racers representing Heartland Park Topeka are in Morrison, Colo. this week for the 2005 O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Junior Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals, looking to score individual and team glory among racers from four NHRA divisions.

Heartland Park will be represented by 14 racers from Kansas and Nebraska, who have qualified through their participation in the Heartland Park Junior Drag Race Series Presented by Sunoco Race Fuels.

Team HPT includes Curtis Mertens (Kingman, Kan.), Jordan Stallbaumer (Wakarusa, Kan.), Korbyn Stallbaumer (Wakarusa, Kan.), Camryn Stallbaumer (Wakarusa, Kan.), Austin McClure (Topeka, Kan.), Bryce Christensen (Topeka, Kan.), Brianne Christensen (Topeka, Kan.), Diana Hall (Topeka, Kan.), Randa Moody (Lincoln, Neb.), Nick Peterson (Abilene, Kan.), Katie Peters (Tecumseh, Kan.), Jacob Novacek (Derby, Kan.), Chelsea Schumacher (Stilwell, Kan.), and Allison Montford (Wichita, Kan.)

Racing is scheduled for Thursday, July 28 through Saturday, July 30 at Bandimere Speedway, located just west of Denver, Colo. Racers will be vying for bragging rights, close to $100,000 in savings bonds, and a coveted NHRA "Wally" trophy.

Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan. annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, Championship OFF-Road Racing (CORR), and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) in addition to many other events throughout the race season.
