Victory for Philippe Gélinas and Team Multi-Prêts on circuit Gilles Villeneuve
Montreal, Quebec, August 30, 2004 - Two years ago, Louis Morin created a Formula 1600 team with the objective of helping young and talented new race car drivers. Today, Louis Morin and his sponsor Multi-Prêts are extremely proud of the performance of their drivers at the Formula 1600 race held at the Montreal Molson Indy this past weekend. Philippe Gélinas captured pole position and won the race while his team mate Olivier Comeau qualified fourth - a great performance for Team Multi-Prêts.
Gélinas took an excellent start and enjoyed an exciting race-long battle with second-place runner Didier Schraenen. The fight lasted until the last corner of the race and despite the intense pressure put by Schraenen, Gelinas, with his strong background in kart racing, managed to keep the veteran at bay until the chequered.
Louis Morin, the owner of Team Multi-Prêts, was delighted with Gelinas' stunning performance. "In the past few races, we missed a few podium finishes," said Morin. "Here on circuit Gilles Villeneuve, we dominated the field and we beat teams that have a lot more money than we have, which is quite an accomplishment. I'd like to thank the team who worked very hard and our sponsors who made it possible. This victory is a great source of motivation."
Team Multi-Prêts is sponsored by Multi-Prêts, Prestige Collision, Pièces d'Auto Lacroix and Vidolo Excavation. For more information about the team, please visit their web site at: www.jlmautosport.com.
