Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup front runner Tom Sharp from Camberley made another return to the podium in challenging condition at a wet Snetterton circuit (Norfolk).

Saturday afternoon saw the second race of the Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup get underway after a heavy rain shower leaving all competitors to start on the wet weather race tyre.

Sharp made the best of the conditions at the start to make up several places early on moving him up to fourth by the end of lap one despite first corner contact which left Sharps rear bumper dislodged.

On lap four the third placed car of Freddie Hetherington ran wide and onto the grass exiting the Esses dropping him down the order moving Sharp into a podium finishing position.

There was controversy when the leading pair made contact on lap five in the braking area for Sear Corner. While Breeze was able to continue in the lead, Wrathall's car was pitched into a spin and he had to battle back from 13th position. This enabled Sharp to take his third second place finish and fifth overall podium of the season.

The IDL prepared car of Tom Sharp now lies in third place overall in the drivers' championship standings with four circuits still left to visit.

The next race meeting is at Silverstone 21-22 August.
