Wrathall heads Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup
Frank Wrathall is the man to beat in the Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup as the teams head to Brands Hatch this weekend.
Wrathall's Team Dynojet car has proved to be the fleetest so far this season with Frank bagging two wins at Rockingham last time out. He heads to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit with a lead of 18 points in the championship over Carl Breeze (TCR).
Breeze was another winner at Rockingham and worked hard to keep Wrathall behind him and will be one to watch this weekend.
Opposition to the top two in the championship comes from Tom Sharp (IDL) who lies third in the standings after a consistent start to his championship campaign. His overall pace isn't on a par with Wrathall's or that of Breeze but Sharp is experienced in these cars and knows how to keep out of trouble.
The Hetherington brothers have shown well this season and Benji lies fourth, brother Freddie 11th. If Hetherington Snr can find a shade more speed he will be a big threat to the top two in the championship, while Breeze's TCR team-mate Joachim Ritter will be one to watch as the Danish-born driver gets faster all the time.
Another improver is Adam Morgan in the second Dynojet car in his maiden Ginetta G50 season, while Chris Dittman and Stephen Tyldesley have shown impressive pace, too.
The unofficial coupe des dames is headed by Rachel Green although the former Caterham champion has been pushed hard by former Formula Renault racer Alice Powell who has looked impressive in her first season in sports car racing.
Qualifying for the Michelin Ginetta G50 Cup takes place at 09.00 on Saturday May 1 with race one, over 10 laps, starting at 13.55. Race two, also on Saturday, is at 16.55 over 14 laps, as is Sunday's race which begins at 14.45.
