Dear Friends in Racing:

The Dayton Auto Racing Fan (DARF) club plans to hold a "Friends of Winchester Speedway " auction at its monthly meeting on April 23.

The accompanying sheet explains why.

Soon after being diagnosed with terminal cancer , Roger Holdeman wrote a letter and gave it to a trusted friend . After his death, the letter was mailed to those designated by Roger .

In that letter , Roger said that he and Linda had cashed in their life insurance policies to help finance renovations at Winchester .

As many of you know , Winchester has had its ups and downs in recent years . The death of Roger was a tremendous blow to Linda , the speedway and fans of the track .

Winchester's origin dates to pre-World War I . Those of us in the Dayton area have seen Dayton Speedway , Queen City Speedway and New Bremen Speedway cease to exist in the past 20 years .

We want to see Winchester thrive for years to come .

We are asking you to assist us in extending a helping hand to Linda Holdeman .

Please consider sending us an item(s) for our auction or a cash donation . All proceeds from the auction will go to Linda .

Sincerely,

Karen and Leal Beattie
