Farnbacher Loles to run Porsche Supercup

Farnbacher Loles Racing has been honored by Porsche Motorsports through an invitation to enter two 997 Porsche Cup cars in the US round of the Porsche Supercup series. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway will again host the two Supercup races during the US Grand Prix weekend, July 1-2. Driving the two Farnbacher Loles entries will be Venezuelan Ricardo Imery and American Ian Baas. While Ricardo has raced in both North America and Europe with Farnbacher Loles, this will be Ian's first race with the team and is a homecoming of sorts for the Indianapolis native. Both drivers have extensive racing backgrounds and bring considerable talent to the team with podium finishes in everything from formula cars to international endurance racing. Ricardo's Porsche is sponsored by Cavenas, while Ian's car is sponsored by Blossom Chevrolet.

Leading the crew as technical director is Horst Farnbacher. Regarded as a true genius in racecar setup, Horst has an unequalled record of success in Supercup, both as a driver and team manager. In 2004, with Porsche ace Wolf Henzler at the wheel, Farnbacher won 9 of 12 races, enroute to the season championship.

Held as a support series for Formula 1, Supercup features some of the most talented Porsche drivers on the planet, running in nearly identical Porsche Cup racecars. Unlike traditional multi-marque racing series, Supercup puts the emphasis on driver skill and car preparation.

Farnbacher Loles Racing competes in both professional and amateur series throughout North America. As the team prepared for the Indianapolis race weekend, team owner Gregory Loles did not take this opportunity lightly. "Being invited to run in this event on this world-class stage is an honor for myself and the team. We have accomplished an amazing amount in the relatively short time the team has been together and it is very satisfying to be recognized by Porsche Motorsports for both our achievements and professionalism."
