Mario THEISSEN - BMW Motorsport Director
"I'm very pleased, because as a car Manufacturer, the Manufacturers
Championship is the most important for us. Obviously, the drivers enjoy the
Drivers' Title more, so we will try to clinch both. It's a great day for BMW
and BMW Motorsport. And we shouldn't forget Tom Coronel who clinched the
Independent Trophy, and Claudia Hurtgen who's leading the German
Championship. We've had some tough races, sometimes tougher than we wanted
them to be. But it was great sport, and the Championship is about to become
even stronger as WTCC next year. SEAT's victory today is a good indicator
that we have three strong Manufacturers driving on an almost equal level."
Jaime PUIG - SEAT Sport Director
"I'm absolutely delighted with this result, for SEAT Sport and for Rickard.
We knew Oschersleben would be good for us after Frank (Diefenbacher) scored
our first podium finish here last year and we've been very confident that
our first win wasn't far off for a while now. They say that the first
victory is the most difficult; I doubt the others will be easy, but after
today I'm very confident that they will come!"
Dirk MÜLLER - BMW Team Deutschland, 3rd in Race 1 and 2nd in Race 2
"I might be leading, but I definitely don't think that the Championship is
over and done yet. There are still twenty points available, and I'm only 12
points ahead of Andy (Priaulx). Obviously, it's quite comfortable to go to
Dubai with such a big lead. But we can have a problem with the car, like
Tarquini had in the first race today, and get no points-- In that case, it
will be getting close."
Rickard RYDELL - SEAT Sport, 7th in Race 1 and 1st in Race 2
"It's been quite a while since I won my last race. I was just sitting in
car, waiting for the guy with the chequered flag to finally wave it. I was
all - gimme, gimme, gimme! I was pushing the whole race, except maybe for
the last two laps. I was very disappointed yesterday, complaining about my
bad luck. I thought the weekend was already over and I was just waiting for
my flight home... Fortunately, it turned out differently!"
Andy PRIAULX - BMW Team Great Britain, 1st in Race 1 and DNF in Race 2
"Realistically, I don't think I still have that much of a chance of winning
the title. So I'm just going for the individual race wins now and will see
what happens in the Championship. At least we've got it wrapped up among the
BMW drivers, which is great for the team. Next year I will have another go
at the Championship."
Gabriele TARQUINI - AutoDelta Squadra Corse, DNF in Race 1 and DNS in Race 2
"It's very sad to be forced to be a spectator in a race in which I hoped to
fight for the title again. Especially because after the start I was exactly
in the position I wanted, behind Augusto (Farfus) and with James (Thompson)
and Fabrizio (Giovanardi) not far behind. It's a pity, but that's the way
the races go. Now I would bet on Dirk winning the title. He has a good
margin, and we saw today that Jorg is working for him."
Augusto FARFUS - AutoDelta Squadra Corse, 2nd in Race 1 and 3rd in Race 2
"It was a little unlucky weekend for us after we had the pole position
yesterday. I knew that today was going to be hard, because the track had a
lot of slow corners which are difficult for the Alfas. I was pushing a lot,
though, and trying my best. Now I will try and fight for the win in Dubai."
Tom CORONEL - Carly Motors, 8th in Race 1 and 4th in Race 2
"It was quite difficult for me this year, because some Manufacturer drivers
seem to think that privateers should let them pass. But I won the Trophy, so
I don't really care anymore. I've had a big fight with Farfus here, and I
didn't have new tyres. It was very difficult. It was important for Carly
Motors to win the Championship. They've really been great this year."
Carl ROSENBLAD - Crawford Racing, 12th in Race 1 and 7th in Race 2
"The second race was good. As we showed earlier this season: our race pace
is okay. But this time we finally got some points. It was certainly nice to
fight with the top drivers. It's good for the confidence; it's nice to show
the guys who are doing all the work with the car that we can fight with
them. I told Giovanardi afterwards that I appreciated that he gave me a fair
chance to score some points, even if my car grew a bit wide in the end--"
Franz ENGSTLER - Engstler Motorsport, 13th in Race 1 (1st in DPM) and 19th
in Race 2
"I made a good start in the first race, and could overtake quite a few cars.
The car was really perfect, and the tyres worked very well. Unfortunately, I
made a mistake in the second race, it was the second this season after Spa,
and through that I lost my chance to win the Championship. But that's
racing."
Cladia HÜRTGEN - Schubert Motorsport, 15th in Race 1 and 11th in Race 2 (1st
in DPM)
"It was really important to me to come around after the two first laps. It
was a hard fight with the private Alfa drivers, but luckily for me there was
no incident. I'm now leading the German Championship. With 60 kilos, I think
my team did a great job. I'm 27 points ahead of my teammate, which should
make things easier at the next race. But then again, there are still 50
points to gain, so anything can happen."
