Sablone Kickflips for X Games Gold Medal in Skateboard Street Women's Final

Alexis Sablone came through with the most technical style to win her first X Games gold medal during the Skateboard Street Women's Final at The Event Deck at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday.

"I grew up skating in my garage, so I really had to step it up to make those transitions on the street course," said Sablone. "I was nervous about the new format and it took a little getting used to, but this feels amazing and I still can't believe it."

Sablone, who won an X Games silver medal in 2009, came back for the gold by throwing down a kickflip 50/50 grind down the angle box known as the "hubba" and a frontside back slide during her fourth run.

"The coffee cup was challenging and the course was great," said Sablone. "My kickflips were on today. When I successfully executed the trick over the doubleset, I was super stoked."

Brazil's Leticia Bufoni put together a third run consisting of a kickflip, lip slide, rock to fakie off the coffee cup and a frontside 180 ollie off the steps for her first X Games silver medal.

"The competition this year was great, better than last year. I feel like all of the girls stepped up and took it to the next level," said Bufoni.

Bufoni was followed by Chicago's Marisa Dal Santo, who took the bronze medal.
