It was dramatical the twelfth of the Turismo Carretera series disputed at Rafaela Raceway, where fourteen cars were involved in a spectacular multi-car incident in the first part of the race. Current champion, Ernesto Bessone (Dodge Nº 1), won the race in the track, but the final classification will be decided on tuesday.

With 60000 present in the circuit, it was all set to live a another fantastic party of Turismo Carretera. However it all changed on lap four of the main race, when Emanuel Moriatis (Ford Nº 18) spun in the middle of the 44 cars field. Moriatis received bumps from everywhere, but the most important was the one of Christian Ledesma, who couldn`t see the Ford, and hit him at 200 km/h.

Included in the melle were the championship protagonists Guillermo Ortelli (Chevrolet Nº 3), Omar Martínez (Ford Nº 4), Juan Traverso (Torino Nº 12) and Matías Rossi (Chevrolet Nº 48), among others.

Moriatis`s co-driver, Walter Jakowzuk, took the worst part. He was retired from the car unconscious after 15 minutes, and quickly received attention in the rolling hospital of the category, and later was moved to the city clinic. Rodolfo Balinotti, doctor of Turismo Carretera, explained the situation: "he in in coma 2-3 with prognosis reserved".

The situation of the others drivers involved is less delicate. Moriatis may have a fracture, Marcelo La Manna (Chevrolet Nº 93) suffered an important cut in his tongue, while Néstor Orsi, co-driver of José Savino (Ford Nº 57) received a strong knock in the chest and the right leg. There's no danger for any of them

When the situation was under control, the authorities of the race decided to continue with the race, using the system of add times between the laps before the accident and the rest of the competition.

Polesitter, Julio Catalán Magni (Dodge Nº 28), was confortably leading until he hit the wall, which made him forgate the dream of take his first victory in the series.

With just a few laps to end, Bessone received the leadership in the track, but he needed 1,3s over Ariel Pacho (Torino Nº 9), who was running third, to win.

The race finished with Safety Car, after many incidents and bumps to the wall, and Bessone, using all his experience in the series, accelerated in the end taking the gap he neded over Pacho. However the Torino driver talked to the stewards, who will decided the result on tuesday. The history of TC at Rafaela still needes another chapter. The end may be written.
