C360R'S CIEKIEWICZ READY FOR CCTCC RACE AT TORONTO INDY
Toronto, ON -- Compass360 Racing's #36 Acura TSX will be part of the historic return of the Toronto Indy this coming weekend. The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship is on the ticket for this fantastic event, which is one of the biggest sporting features of the year for the city. With nearly 100,000 fans expected to attend, it's certainly one of the highlights of the Toronto summer.
Driver Dave Ciekiewicz is looking forward to tearing down Lakeshore Boulevard in the C360R black-and-orange Acura. "This event is going to be awesome," he enthused. "The Touring Car field is so competitive and there will be a lot of cars jockeying for position. The goal is to try and stay with the lead pack and keep out of trouble."
Team Principal Karl Thomson is equally excited. "This really is the jewel in the crown of Canadian Touring Car, and has to be considered the premier event in Canadian motorsport. Being a Toronto-based team, we know there will be a lot of fans and friends who will be coming out to watch the races."
Held just west of downtown Toronto on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition and making use of a long stretch of Lakeshore Boulevard on Lake Ontario, the Indy is one of the best temporary road circuits in North America. With the IRL open-wheel cars making their return after a one-year hiatus, the weekend promises to be full of great racing. This means that drivers and teams will need to arrive with cars well set-up and ready to race.
Ciekiewicz current sits thirteeth in Super Touring points, but well within striking distance of fifth place. As fans have come to expect, the CCTCC racing is very close and the drivers will have to be careful at Toronto, where a small mistake can result in a very costly meeting with the concrete barriers that surround the track.
Practice and qualifying for the CCTCC cars takes place on Friday, with one 30-minute race each day on Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday race starts at 3:45pm, and the green flag drops on Sunday at 10:00am.
