Changan Ford Racing Team will spare no effort to grab the title
After five fierce races the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) will hold its season finale at the newly-founded Guangdong International Circuit (GIC) on December 5th & 6th. The 1600cc class team and driver titles have already been taken and that leaves the 2000cc class the major focus of the final event. Changan Ford Racing Team successfully overcame the influence of a controversial penalty in race 4 and grabbed yet another double win in race 5. Changan Ford racing team is now leading the championship by 9 points and looks very promising to win the team title. The driver's title, on the other hand, is still open to Rainey He, lead driver for Changan Ford Racing team. With only 5 points difference, Rainey He still has a good chance to take his first championship title in CTCC.
Changan Ford racing team's four drivers will arrive at Zhaoqing, Guangdong province on November 27th to prepare for testing on the 28th & 29th. The team recently sent a group to inspect the new circuit and John Ling, the team manager, commented:"the new track is very nice with two long straights (700m) and two very technical corners (T1 & T10) connecting to the straights." The drivers also expressed that they were very excited to race on a new track, and that the team will come up with a good set-up for Wednesday's practice. As this is a new circuit, finding the best car set-up will be vital for each team: "A new track is not only a big challenge to the drivers, it's also a challenge for the technical team. But I am very confident in our technical staff as they are very experienced experts from their own field", said John Ling.
The four Changan Ford drivers are in good form for the upcoming race; Rainey He, Andy Yan and Martin Cao competed in the 56th Macau Grand Prix weekend and Tengyi Jiang has exceeded the physical training requirements scheduled by the team. Stay tuned for news from CTCC 09's finale.
