Mathieu Audette performs, but unlucky in Toronto!
Toronto (Ontario), July 18, 2010.- Quebec driver Mathieu Audette was once again amongst the Canadian Touring Car Championship front-runners this past weekend, demonstrating the Audette Racing Team's competitiveness as he earned some of the fastest times in the series. Unfortunately, mechanical problems prevented him from completing the two races.
Victorious at Mosport last month and on the podium at the Grand Prix de Mirabel two weeks ago, Mathieu Audette was not as successful in Toronto : " an overheating motor forced us to end our race early on Saturday. Despite that, the entire team decided to continue racing on Sunday. We changed the motor on Saturday night, went to bed at 2 :30 am, and were back at the track by 6 am " explains Mathieu. Their perseverance unfortunately did not pay off as the second race on Sunday was also cut short, this time due to a broken transmission cable. " I came into the pits and we tried a quick fix but it wasn't enough. It's disappointing because we were once again very competitive. On Saturday, I had the lap record up until the third last lap of the race " adds the Quebec driver.
Even though the championship title is no longer within reach, the Audette Racing Team's ultimate goal is a victory for Mathieu at the next round, the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. " Our Dimensions Doors Acura RSX Type-S proved early in the season that it has the competitiveness that I need in order to win races. We've never been lucky in Toronto and I'm convinced that this weekend is an anomaly in our season. I'm really looking forward to Trois-Rivières and I'm putting out the invitation to one and all : come see us, we'll be there to win! " concludes Mathieu Audette.
