The Brian Martin Racing Team will be leaving for Cape Town today to compete in the last round of the Bankfin Touring Car Championship for 2000.

The team has changed it's tactics for this race by returning to the 1600 class which allows the car to run at 900kg instead of 1100kg with the 2.0litre motor.

Brian Martin "The 2.0 litre is a nice powerful engine with lots of torque however the advantage is lost through the handling and braking when carrying the extra 200kg. The 1600 is a strong engine which revs safely to 9000 RPM and it now handles like a Corolla should and of course the braking distance is now much shorter which will be a big advantage at the Killarney circuit which has a long straight with a hard right hander at the end of it. We are hoping for a good podium finish at our last race.

"We would like to thank Caltex S.A. and Toyota Motorsport for their support this year and we hope to do them proud this coming weekend."
