Martín Basso (Honda Civic nº 5) claimed his first career win in the Argentinian Touring Car Championship (TC 2000) at the eleventh round disputed that took place yesterday at Bahía Blanca Raceway. The podium was completed by his teamate Juan M. Silva (Honda Civic nº 6) and Christian Ledesma (Chevrolet nº 9), who extended his position as standings leader.

Finally, once ended good for Basso. After many frustations, the needed first victory arrived and it was in the best way. "I could take away the bag of the victory", were the firsts words of the new winner. Because Basso wanted this result. Since his debut in the series in March 2003, the victory was around, but he couldn't take it. Yesterday, with 20000 people in the circuit, was the perfect way. Basso swept with the pole position on saturday and confirmed his condition of candidate in the sunday morning hits.

The 1999 Argentinian FR champion dominated the main competition from the start and never seemed to look back. "I`m very happy. The team did a great job this weekend".

To find Basso`s last victory, we must ago back to June 2000 season, when he won at Milwaukee oval in the Formula Atlantic, where he also raced in 2001. His campaign in USA ended with a test of a CART machine, but the budget put him a limit. In 2002 tried luck in the European F 3000 with a second place as best work. The moment of return home came. "At that time, I wanted to race in the country again", remembered Basso.

With a very bad memory of the first part of the season, the driver of 30 years and just married, is ready to move on, now without the pression of the first victory in his back.

Silva was the shadow of his teamate during the 39 laps of competition. The 1999 series champion respected the pact inside the team: the one that reachs ahead the first turn, is the one that wins. From that point, all Silva did was to cover Basso without attack his leader position.

Despite with this result is second in the championship, 30 points behind the leader, Silva still couldn`t take the victory this season. Something to change in the following three rounds .

Who did a great deal with third place at Bahía Blanca was Ledesma. The standings leader started from fifth place and jumped to the podium in the first move. Ledesma tried to pass Silva in the beginning, but he knew it wouldn`t be an easy thing to do. Stead, he decided to take care his position until the end of the race. "I cut the bad road, which I needed", commented Ledesma. About the what`s to come, he said: "I`m will try to secure the championship in the next race of Buenos Aires".

Ledesma has in important difference. He leads with 136 points, followed by Silva with 88. Current champion, Gabriel Ponce de León (Ford Focus nº 1) has 86 points after his sixth place yesterday. "It before this race it was hard to fight for the title, now it is impossible", said the 24 years driver.

The next round on October 31st. will not be just another for TC 2000. The series will dispute the "Two hours of Buenos Aires", at the Oscar A. Gálvez Raceway. Eeach team will invite one driver to join the current staff. In the list of guests already are: former BTCC champion Alain Menu, Kelvin Burt and Anthony Reid. It will also race drivers from Brazil (Cacá Bueno, David Muffato, Nené Figuereido), Chile (Eliseo Salazar) and from Spain, Jordi Gene, brother of Marc Gene, test driver of Willimams in F1, who will bring a car to make a show before the competition.
