The 2003 season of the Asian Touring Car Series got off to a spectacular start with Team 778 Autosport's Lo Ka Chun taking victory in Division 1, in his Honda Integra DC2, ahead of fellow Hong Kong driver Gary Sham.

"The car was very good today," said a delighted Lo.

Nick Thomas of New Zealand finished a brilliant 3rd ahead of pole sitter and team-mate Matthew Marsh, who was suffering gearbox problems, in the second GR Asia Ford Focus.

Thomas got off to a bad start and dropped right to the back of the field. However, he battled his way back through and was exhuasted, but thrilled at his result. "At the very end, good luck smiled on me and I passed Matthew (Marsh) on the second-to-last straight," he said. "It was a mixture of good luck and hard work!".

In Division 2, Malaysian Mashlino Buang of Team Petronas came out on top ahead of fellow countryman Tony Teo, and Japanese Junichi Koizumi. Mashlino's teammate Mohd Farique had a disappointing race having to retire in lap 8.
