Kobylarz to Sign Autographs at Pennzoil Motorsports '99 On Saturday, Jan. 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
BIRDSBORO, Pa., Dec. 23 - Bryan Kobylarz, who won the tightest point battle ever according to all the records that are available for the American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) CARQUEST Midget Series, will be on hand at Pennzoil Motorsports '99 Jan. 15-17 at the Fort Washington Expo Center in Fort Washington, Pa.
Kobylarz is slated to sign autographs in "Autograph Alley" at the show on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The young speedster from Birdsboro, Pa., will also be found at the ARDC CARQUEST Racing Series booth at various other times during the show hours, which are from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15; from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16; and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17. The expo center, which features 270,000 square feet of exhibit area, is located off exit 26 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
After 16 point races from April through September, Kobylarz edged defending ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series champion Ed Stimely Jr. by a single point to win the drivers' title with 1,533 points to Stimely's 1,532.
Indicative of the new blood that the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series enjoys, the top three drivers of 1998 - Kobylarz, Stimely and Mark Freeland - were all rookies in the club in 1996.
Kobylarz won the championship without winning a single feature, but he did have 11 top-five finishes in Doug and Claudette Starrett's Ellis Fontana. That car will be on display at the ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series booth at the show, as will Spike Gillespie's Beast Gaerte which Ray Bull drove to victory in an ARDC CARQUEST Midget Series race at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway in 1998.
Kobylarz's wife, Deanna, is coordinating ARDC's booth for the club.
"Signing autographs at Pennzoil Motorsports is one of the perks I'm getting for winning the ARDC CARQUEST title, and I'm honored to be representing the club there," Kobylarz said. "I'd like to thank Lenny Sammons, Earl Krause and Joe Pratt for the invitation to participate in the show in this way, and to J.R. Booth of L&B Desktop Publishing and Printing for his help preparing our team's autograph card.
"I'd also like to invite everybody to stop by the ARDC CARQUEST Midget booth at the show," Kobylarz added, "and to attend an ARDC CARQUEST Midget race in 1999, our 60th season."
