FORMULA FORD ZETEC CHAMPIONSHIP Round 5, Knockhill, Scotland Sunday 14th May

In a tense 5th round of the Slick 50 Formula Ford ZETEC Championship at Knockhill Anthony Davidson, in his BIC sponsored Haywood Racing Mygale, finished in 3rd place maintaining his Championship challenge. Starting 2nd on the grid for the race between Mark Taylor and Robert Dahlgren, Anthony used the opportunity to close the gap between him and Championship leader, James Courtney.

After trying to get ahead of Taylor on the first lap Anthony had to make room for a desperate overtaking manoeuvre by Dahlgren to ensure a points finish. Davidson set the latest lap of the race, in 53.625 seconds at 87.27mph, as he closed in on the leaders putting them under intense pressure but unable to get by on the tight Knockhill circuit.

After the race Anthony said, "I am really pleased with today's race. My tyres were not as fresh as the two leaders, who had only done a few laps in qualifying, but I still managed to set fastest lap. It was important for me to finish ahead of James Courtney who was obviously feeling the heat this weekend."
