Anthony Davidson hopes to complete a hugely impressive first season in car racing with a win at this weekend's Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch. Twenty-one year old Davidson scored three wins in the Formula Ford Zetec Championship driving his BIC sponsored Haywood Racing Mygale and finished the series in 3rd place, missing 2nd by just 1 point.

He was the top rookie driver in the championship. His performances won him a nomination to the prestigious McLaren Autosport Young Driver of the Year Awards, the judging of which took place earlier this week. The results will be declared at the Awards ceremony in London on December 3, 2000.

Previous Awards winners include Formula One star, David Coulthard and Champ Car ace, Dario Franchitti. However, on the eve of the Festival, Anthony only had one thing on his mind:

"Winning the Festival is as good as winning a championship. It is one of the toughest, most competitive events on the motor sport calendar. You have to maintain your speed and form throughout the weekend to stand a chance. I've had a great year and I really want to end on a high note with a victory on Sunday afternoon."
