FORT WASHINGTON, PA January 10, 2000 . . . Citing the pressures and time consuming efforts of test sessions for his Indy Racing League team just completed and his NASCAR Winston Cup team just getting started, A.J. Foyt has cancelled his personal appearance at the Pennzoil Motorsports 2000 Show this weekend. The 65 year-old, four-time-winner of the Indianapolis 500 was scheduled to make his first appearance at the popular midwinter motorsports extravaganza set for the Fort Washington, PA Expo Center, January 14-16. A spokesperson for Foyt said that the man many consider the greatest driver to sit in a race car felt very bad about the cancellation. He was looking forward to visiting with his many fans in the area. In fact he had even made arrangements with some friends and associates to be with him at the show. "We are disappointed that A.J. will not be with us. We have advertised him heavily and he has created a lot of interest in the show. Everybody knows the name A.J. Foyt. Every effort is being made to find a suitable replacement. We have thousands of program books that will still have Foyt's picture on the cover. It is just too late to make some changes. However we still have a fantastic lineup for the show," said show organizer Len Sammons. "We have Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeremy Mayfield, Geoffrey Bodine, Steve Park, Brad Doty, Davey Hamilton, lady racer Sarah Fisher, Michael Waltrip, Ernie Irvan, Chad Little and many others. We have so many local racing talents that fans will get to meet. And there are so many other things to do at the show. Foyt will be missed. We would like to have him here but we can understand the pressures of putting together a new Winston Cup team and getting his Indy Racing League team in shape. He has all new drivers for his teams. We'll try to get him here next year. But it is not the end of the world. We still have a great, great show for people to see." Complete info on the show is available at www.aarn.com. More than 150 motorsports vehicles will be on display and everything motorsports will be featured in more than 500 display booths. Friday Night Live will feature Gregory's World of Illusion Show with Ms. Motorsports Jennifer Olsen serving as his assistant. And on Saturday night the U.S. Tobacco Ms. Motorsports Pageant will be presented. The three day show is filled with seminars and there will be a number of demonstrations at the MotorMax Extreme Motorsports Garage. On Sunday young people will be featured in Big Wheel competition and the Li'l Miss Motorsports contest. A.J. Foyt will not be there but fans will still have plenty of great racers to meet and collect autographs (free) from. And there will be so much to see and do at the show, The Pennzoil Motorsports 2000 Show takes place at the Fort Washington, PA Expo Center just a short distance from Exit 26 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
