Silverstone/Stuttgart. Jorg Bergmeister is the new points leader of the Porsche-Pirelli-Supercup. At the British Grand Prix, the 25-year-old German drove an immaculate race to take a green light to chequered flag victory.

Place two went to Germany's Wolf Henzler. The ex-F3000 man started the 15 lap sprint from fifth on the grid, delivered a perfect start, overtaking the two guest starters from the UPS-Porsche Junior team Marc Lieb and Timo Bernhard, to snatch third. Henzler, who inherited second position when Stephane Ortelli flew off the track in the first lap with technical defect, successfully defended his second place from an attacking Timo Bernhard.

VIP driver for the Silverstone round, Kelvin Burt, put in an excellent show in front of home crowds, taking up the race from 16th and fighting his way up to finish tenth. Popstar Shane Lynch, at the wheel of the second VIP Carrera, said farewell to his fans in the eighth lap with a spectacular spin into gravel trap.

Jorg Bergmeister (D, winner): "All humbleness aside, my start was brilliant! Then Stephane flew off in the first lap which left a huge gap behind me. Wolf Henzler drew closer but I was able to hold him off."

Wolf Henzler (D, second): "I'm very happy with my race today. I immediately grabbed two places at the start. Timo Bernhard put the pressure on over the whole distance, but I must give him credit - he was extremely fair. Any other driver would have tried to push past me, but he knew he was a guest driver and didn't want to ruin my chances at the championship. Thanks to my team - they did a great job in setting-up the car, and this is decisive on such a fast circuit like Silverstone."

Timo Bernhard: (D, third): "Good start, although Wolf took me by surprise. But I stuck to him like glue. I felt I could have driven faster but I wasn't prepared to take the risk overtaking on the fast passages. Wolf is competing for points so I didn't attack. Silverstone is a dream and it was great to drive here.

Kelvin Burt (GB, 10th): "I don't feel confident in the car because I'm not used to the ABS and I definitely need to get used to the Pirelli tyres. But to drive in front of packed grandstands here is a real thrill."

Race Result: 1. J. Bergmeister (D, Infineon Team Farnbacher) 12 laps in 23:40.666 2. W. Henzler (D, PZ Rhein-Oberberg), 3.077 seconds behind 3. T. Bernhard (
