MULTI-CHANNEL SHOW TO BOOST EXPOSURE
FORMULA Renault UK attracted strong viewing figures as the new series of Motorsport UK, the highlights show for BTCC support races, started on ITV4 last week.
A peak audience of 50,000 placed the show, broadcast at 5pm on Tuesday, near the top of the multi-channel listings. In total, each show is due to be broadcast four times.
Episode one had its second airing in the early hours of Friday morning on ITV1 after UEFA Cup highlights, which is expected to help boost ratings. The programme is then shown on Friday on Men & Motors before a final broadcast, back on ITV4, on Saturday.
The number of showings and range of channels, including ITV4, which continues to build a strong reputation for its sports content, is expected to increase the cumulative total of viewer s providing greater exposure for the Championship.
Clio Cup action receives the same TV scheduling and is also available to view online at renaultsport.co.uk.
This week's Motorsport UK episode features Clio Cup highlights of round two. Formula Renault UK action returns in episode three on 13th May with highlights of series leader Adam Christo's win at Brands Hatch.
RENAULT PAST - CARL BREEZE
Who: 2001 champion with four wins from 13 races and never out of the top five, only his dropped score made the title race closer. Richard Antinucci, 2002 champion Danny Watts and Heikki Kovalainen were the men he beat to the crown.
He says: "I'm proud to have won with Motaworld as Manor and Fortec have been the dominant teams recently . It was high profile at the time after Kimi's win in 2000 and a good quality of drivers. I've won races in other categories but the title is my career highlight so far." (Carl Breeze)
- ADAM Christodoulou broke the Rockingham lap record in both races last weekend, replicating his feat from Brands Hatch where he also lowered the quickest lap time for the new-look FR2.0 car. New bodywork in 2007 has been revised this season intended to place more emphasis in driver control but has also lowered lap times in the early races.
- EIGHT nationalities are now represented in the Formula Renault UK Championship with the addition of Korean driver Tom Mun to the Apotex Scorpio Motorsport team and Swedish racer Fredrik Blomstedt at Mark Burdett Motorsport. Mun,17, has raced in Formula Renault BARC, while Blomstedt, 17, contested the 2007 Winter Championship
- ALEXANDER Sims once again headed official testing times during a twoday stint at Croft. His lap of 1min 17.334s was the quickest on 22nd April. The following day saw four sessions with Adriano Buzaid fastest with a lap of 1min 17.479s. Sims and James Calado topped one session each while Riki Christodoulou was fastest in the single wet session.
