ADVANTAGE TO CHRISTOS SIMS WAITS FOR SLIP
ADAM Christodoulou and Alexander Sims go head to head for the Formula Renault UK title at Brands Hatch this weekend, with Adam hot favourite to clinch the crown.
The leader since round two of the series, when he won at Brands, the CR Scuderia driver has seven race wins. Manor Competition's Sims has shown remarkable consistency to finish every race in the top nine, including two wins.
Coming to the final rounds with a 34-point lead, Christodoulou said: "The pressure is on but I've been in this situation before in karting. We were strong here at the start of the year and I just need to repeat that, keep it clean and make sure nothing daft happens. It will mean a lot to me to win it, and even more for my career."
Christo can guarantee the title with two top-six finishes, or by finishing ahead of Sims in either of Sunday's races.
Sims, who is only 10 points behind before dropped scores are taken into account, said: "It's a big ask but we have to approach it in the same way as all the other weekends. I feel I got the maximum from the car at each event. I'm under no illusions that it's a struggle to win from here but anything can happen in racing as we saw at Silverstone."
Highlights of round 15 at Oulton Park will feature in episode 23 of Motorsport UK, which has its first showing on Tuesday, 30th September. The show also includes action from the charity duathlon won by Alexander Sims, which raised £500 for Barnardo's and the North West Air Ambulance. Round 16 action will be shown one week later.
