Formula Renault UK Championship team Hillspeed and category rookie Michael Lyons (Felsted, Essex) have agreed to part ways ahead of this week's second test of the official 2009 pre-season.
The Hathersage based squad, which had registered two drivers for Formula Renault UK this year, will now appear at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit for official testing tomorrow, Tuesday, 3rd March, fielding one car for Menasheh Idafar.
The team is, however, in active discussion with several potential candidates for the second seat with a month still remaining until the opening two rounds of the 2009 Formula Renault UK Championship.
"Obviously we're disappointed Mick has decided he wants to leave Hillspeed but we part ways on good terms and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours", commented team principal Richard Ollerenshaw.
"We're talking to several drivers regarding the possibility of lining up alongside Menasheh in the team so hopefully we'll have some positive news to announce there in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we're focused on enjoying a good test run at Brands this week and also continuing with the preparations for our three-car assault on the Formula Renault BARC Championship."
Lyons, meanwhile, said: "I wish Hillspeed all the best for the future. It's a shame to leave the team but I feel the time is right now to explore other opportunities."
Drivers who would like to discuss the possibilities surrounding the second seat in Hillspeed's Formula Renault UK line-up are invited to contact Richard Ollerenshaw on 01433 650400 or 07966 650400. Alternatively, please email email@example.com
