CROFT & LE MANS!

The Formula Renault races are coming thick and fast at the moment. The CRS Racing team will be at Croft in Yorkshire this weekend for rounds nine and ten of the 2009 Formula Renault UK Championship. After a near-win at Oulton Park, Harry Tincknell is fully fired up and looking for his first Formula Renault race victory. Matias Laine and Mick Lyons will be looking to continue the improved competitiveness they showed at Oulton, whilst Josh Scott and Lewis Williamson will focus on putting Oulton behind them and returning to form at Croft.

One face missing from the CRS Formula Renault team at Croft will be Andrew Kirkaldy. The Team Director is doing a spot of moonlighting this weekend, racing a Ferrari 430 at Le Mans for the JMW Motorsport team, alongside Rob Bell and Tim Sugden. There will be plenty of cross-channel phone calls this weekend as he keeps up to date with progress at Croft.

Here is what some of the CRS drivers have to say about the upcoming race weekend:

HARRY TINCKNELL:

"After the Oulton Park race I cannot wait to get out on the track at Croft as I have gone well there so far this season. At the official test I was quickest by three-tenths in the final session and posted the second quickest time of the test, just a tenth off the fastest. It is another one of my favourite tracks on the calendar and has a mixture of some very fast corners at the start of the lap, to a really tight, twisty and technical section at the end, so it really tests all of your driving skills and techniques. Oulton Park was my best weekend of the year so far with two consistent grid positions in the top four and another podium finish in race one. I led for most of the race after a fantastic start from 4th on the grid but couldn't quite hold on for the win, however, I know that I am close to my first victory and I've been working even harder with the team and in the gym to make sure that I can achieve it as soon as possible. I also did the Graduate Cup double at Oulton by some margin which was my aim going into the weekend and I will be looking to further increase my lead at Croft and hopefully be right up there in the races as well. I feel as if I've got a lot of momentum behind me now, even after the slight blip at Donington, and I cannot wait to get out on the track and make up that last tenth or so."

JOSH SCOTT:

"I'm looking forward to Croft after a weekend to forget at Oulton Park. The testing was frustrating at Croft as we were a long way down in straight-line speed but really good through all the turns, so now with a new engine we are looking strong for the race. My target is the same: to qualify in the top four so I can capitalise on that and get top race results. This year is definitely more competitive than 2008; it has turned out to be a lot harder the n I first assumed and being down on miles really showed through at Oulton Park, so I'm a lot happier going to the Croft weekend with at least two days of testing under my belt."

LEWIS WILIAMSON:

"Oulton was not my best ever race weekend. After going out in the first race the team did a great job to get my car fixed in time for the second, and I was able to run well. Going into Croft I want to get two solid results so I am hoping I can reproduce the speed the team had in the last test there. I struggled a bit in the test but by the last run things were looking a lot better. I'm looking forward to seeing how different the track is in summer as I have only driven there when it is freezing cold."

MICHAEL LYONS:

"Croft is an interesting circuit with a real mixture of high and low speed corners, as well as plenty of lumps and bumps which make this one of the trickier circuits on the calendar. It is not one of my favourite circuits but I'm looking forward to the qualifying as at the last meeting I put in my best performance yet to qualify tenth for race two. However I should be on for a good race too, as I gained one of my best results of the season in the first race at the last round at Oulton Park. My main aim for this event is to get two good solid results in the races in order to try catch up in the championship."
