Bardon, Leicestershire, UK -- 10 August 2007: The AKA Cobra team will be out on track at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit next weekend (18/19 August) for rounds 15 and 16 of the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship. This is the series' second visit of the year to Brands Hatch; the first time out saw AKA Cobra driver, Jeremy Metcalfe, take his fist pole position and victory of 2007, whilst team-mate Adam Christodoulou took two podium finishes. The team will be looking for even more impressive results for all four drivers this time around.
Andrew Kirkaldy, Team Principal:
"Brands Hatch is a good circuit for us. Jeremy took his first win of the year there and he was also fastest the last time we tested there. Adam got very close to his first win at Snetterton so it will be interesting to see if he can improve on the second place he got at Brands last time. We were quick again in testing earlier this week so I'm hopeful that we can have a good weekend."
Adam Christodoulou (currently 4th in Championship standings and 1st in Graduate Cup):
"Brands Hatch has got to be one of the shortest but most demanding tracks we go to. With only four main corners it is particularly important to do well in qualifying due to the lap times being so close and the close racing. I'm hoping it's going to be a repeat of the last time I raced there but I want to be one more place up on the podium, on the top spot! I'm very confident that the team, my team mates and myself are all going to be very strong there and I'm looking forward to another close race at the front."
Jeremy Metcalfe (currently 6th in Championship standings):
"I feel pretty good looking ahead to Brands. The Indy Circuit is one we've been strong at before and I took pole position and won there earlier in the year so we're confident of another good showing. Qualifying is obviously very important on such a tight and short track and you've got to try and be on the front row really to challenge for a win. Our set-up at the start of the season at Brands was good so we should be able to be competitive again and I'd like to think we could back-up our Snetterton podium with a couple more next weekend."
Chris Holmes (currently 9th in Championship standings):
"Brands Hatch was a good weekend for me last time I was there; it was the first race of the year and it was very positive, for me personally and the whole team. The key is grid position: it's hard to overtake there so we need to make sure we have everything working just right for qualifying. I was fifth there last time and only 0.1 seconds off pole position, so I am going to be pushing to get a strong result again, which will set me up for a good back end of the season."
Nathan Caratti (currently 15th in Championship standings):
"I'm looking forward to racing at Brands Hatch for the second time this year as I wasn't very happy with my performance there during the first round. I had a good test there a few weeks ago and I'm confident that I will do better. I also want to shake of the disappointments of the last few rounds and start getting some good finishes again. There are virtually zero overtaking opportunities at Brands so I need to qualify well if I want to have a good weekend."
Testing takes place at Brands Hatch on Friday before two qualifying session on Saturday. Rounds 15 and 16 of the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship will take place on Sunday 19 August at 1000hrs and 1700hrs.
