McIntosh set for Scottish challenge

Vancouver, Canada (August 23, 2005) - Canada's Sean McIntosh heads to Scotland this weekend, 26th-28th August, as the Knockhill Circuit in Fife plays host to Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2005 Formula Renault UK Championship. Sitting third in the title fight, courtesy of a stunning weekend last time out at Snetterton capturing two poles and two wins, the 20-year-old Vancouver racer arrives north of the border as the man to beat.

Knockhill's tight, twisty 1.3-mile circuit presents competitors with one of the toughest challenges on the 20-race Formula Renault UK schedule with barely two hours testing allocated at the track prior to this Saturday's qualifying sessions. Add to the mix interchangeable weather conditions and the end result tends to be one of the most unpredictable race weekends of the year.

"It's not the easiest circuit to get round," Sean remarked ahead of his trip to Scotland. "We barely get any track time before getting down to business in qualifying so it's really important to make the most of Friday's two test sessions. We tested at the Guadix Circuit in Spain over the winter as the track shares similar characteristics with Knockhill, hopefully our time there will work out to our advantage."

He continued, "We'll take what we learned at Guadix and combine that with our experiences at Knockhill last season. I scored a top ten finish on my first visit to the track and we head to this weekend's race still feeling pretty confident following our success at Snetterton. We're not taking anything for granted however and I'm sure we'll all be working flat out to score as many points as we can from what's always a challenging weekend!"

As the title chase heats up Sean, a three-time winner so-far this season, sits third overall, just two points from James Jakes in second place on 258. Oliver Jarvis leads the drivers standings with 295 points before dropped scores are taken into consideration.
