Mike Conway won a dramatic second race at Silverstone after initially conceding the lead on the first lap and then benefiting from a collision in front of him involving his closest rival so far for the championship, Comtec Racing with Duckhams driver Westley Barber,
Barber passed Conway in a clean manoeuvre on the inside at Abbey on lap six and then he set about chasing the leading Di Resta. James Gornall was lucky to avoid an accident when he was nudged into a spin at the fastest point of the circuit on the back straight, eventually coming to a rest on the grass and able to rejoin the race.
Charles Hollings was not so calm after he was hit by Josh Weber and both cars were sent spinning into the gravel. The Fortec driver ran over to Weber, who was still sitting in his car, and verbally made his feelings perfectly clear.
After a brief Safety Car period Conway was able to keep Stephen Simpson and Patrick Hogan behind him to cross the line one second ahead and take a somewhat fortunate victory and, more importantly, pull out a 47 point lead over Barber who failed to score in the race.
