Formula Renault UK star David Epton heads to the next two rounds of the season at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit on 9th/10th September in outstanding form, having produced a scintillating display last week in official testing at Silverstone.

The 25-year-old, originally from Fleet in Hampshire but currently residing in Preston, Lancashire, endured a nightmare weekend during the previous championship meeting at Snetterton almost two weeks ago but bounced-back with a terrific display lastTuesday where he concluded the full-day of exclusive testing third fastest overall.

David, who is sponsored by Bombardier Learjet, Universal Weather & Aviation Inc and Jet Air International Lebanon & Germany, produced consistently fast lap times during both sessions on the 1.64-mile National Circuit, his quickest lap of the day being 54.958 seconds (107.36mph) -- a mere eight 100ths of a second shy of the top spot.

The Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed Scorpio Motorsport team succeeded in providing David with a very well set-up car at Silverstone and the reigning Formula Palmer Audi Vice-Champion is now rightly confident he will be able to challenge for a brace of podium results at Donington Park less than afortnight from now.

"I've never driven the Silverstone National Circuit in the dry before so to be third fastest was great, we were absolutely delighted with our pace throughout the test", reflected David on his performance.

"Combining our best sector times, we would actually have been fastest overall so that's a fantastic boost ahead of the next two rounds at Donington. The test obviously bodes well for the Silverstone races at the end of the season as we made some good steps forward and I think the confidence we gained will certainly carry through to Donington.

"Importantly, my fastest lap wasn't a one-off. We set a string of consistently quick times which were all good enough to keep us in the top six. The team did a fantastic job with the car in the run up to Tuesday's test so I must say thanks to the guys at Scorpio for their hard work. The team's efforts were certainly proven at Silverstone."

Alongside his bid for podium results next weekend, David also stands a superb chance of winning the prestigious Donington Park Racing Association Club (DPRAC) Cup which will be awarded at the end of the meeting to the British driver who has scored the most points across the four Formula Renault UK rounds contested at the track this year.

During Round 11 at the Leicestershire venue's National Circuit in July, David achieved a top eight result before going on to claim a top six finish in Round 12. His 32-point haul from both races places the Scorpio ace second in the DPRAC Cup standings, a mere two points shy of James Sutton who, incidentally, was only 16th fastest at Silverstone.

"Last time at Donington we went from 12th on the grid to sixth in the second race so I'm sure we'll have the pace", commented David, "We do need to qualify nearer the front though to make our races easier. If we can qualify in the top six for both rounds then a couple of podiums are a definite possibility.

"Actually, if we continue our testing form, there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to mount a challenge for my first Formula Renault UK win. The DPRAC Cup is obviously up for grabs as well and we're firmly in the running to win the trophy which would be very nice to have."

Rounds 15 and 16 of the Formula Renault UK Championship will form part of the British round of the World Series by Renault, a spectacular race meeting which is expected to see a crowd of over 50,000 spectators in attendance.

Official testing for the Formula Renault UK competitors will take place at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit on Wednesday, 6th September. For the first time this season there will be just one 20-minute qualifying session with each driver's fastest time setting the grid for Round 15 and their second quickest laps going to form the grid for Round 16.

Qualifying is to be held on Saturday, 9th September, at approximately 13.25 with both races to follow on Sunday, 10th September. Round 15 is expected to start at 10.00 with Round 16 scheduled to begin at 16.00. At this stage it hasn't been confirmed whether or not the races will benefit from live television coverage.
