Pietro Fittipaldi continues to go from strength to strength, extending his championship lead to 36 with 238 points.
After a strong start to the season, with wins at both Rockingham and Donington, the pressure was on to prove he could maintain the form, which had set him ahead of the field. Determined stamp his dominance on championship, Pietro didn’t disappoint, topping the podium in both the weekend’s races at Brands Hatch.
After qualifying second for Race 7, Pietro soon dispatched with team-mate Matteo Ferrer at Druids and went on to claim victory in what was a largely uneventful race, bar a brief outing for the safety car when Pier Hickin and Colin Noble Jnr collided on Cooper Straight.
Race 8 saw Pietro take his winning streak with MGR Motorsport to five. After starting in pole, he held his position throughout, taking the opportunity to demonstrate his ability to control from the front, building up nearly a four second lead by the time the chequered flag fell.
Clearly pleased with the result, Pietro praised his team and cited consistency as the key to his success, saying “it’s what wins championships… we’ll keep working hard and strive for more of the same at Snetterton.”
