Last round of the Northern European Cup 2009 at Spa - Francorchamps

The finale of the Northern European Cup takes place during the Racing Festival (2nd until the 4th of October) on the world famous track of Spa - Francorchamps. Antonio Felix Da Costa already earned the 2009 title during the last race on the Nuerburgring, but for teammates Magnussen and Quaife- Hobbs there is still the title of vice-champion to fight for.

This year's season already counted seven different number ones in fourteen different races. This high ratio of different winners proves the high level of competitiveness among drivers and teams in the Formula Renault 2.0 cars.

Although this year's title has already been decided, it is still surprisingly exciting when you take a closer look at the standings for the top ten. For example, Marco Sorensen, Kevin Korjus and Daniel Aho are currently in 4th, 5th and 6th position, but are all within 2 points of each other.

This edition of the Racing Festival will interest anybody having an affinity with motorsports. As NEC represents formula cars, the Dutch Supercar Challenge will impress the audience with an amazing touring car championship including brands such as Marcos, Mosler and Viper. Next to those decibel heavy engines, the Dutch Clio Cup will be there for their penultimate round of the season. The programme is completed with the Caterham Graduates, Lotus Elise Cup Europe, Ginetta G20 Championship and the Legend Cars cup.

Twenty drivers are expected to take part in this last NEC event of the season. In addition to the eighteen drivers that have been with the Northern European Cup for the entire season, the organization welcomes the Czech pilots of Palmi Motorsport again to the starting grid.

The 2 litre single seaters open the event with a one-hour free practice session on Friday morning the second of October. Qualification for the weekend will also be on Friday, but later in the afternoon at 15.25. The fifteenth race of the season will take place on Saturday the third, short after noon at 12.40. The last race of this season is set for Sunday the 4th at 14.00 with the overall podium directly following the 25-minute race.
