NEC ready for 2010 kick off at the Hockenheimring

Seventeen Formula Renaults are ready to start the new season at the Hockenheim Historic (15th to the 18th of April 2010). Both established and new teams travel down to the world famous track in Baden-Wuerttemberg to fight for the first round of the Northern European Cup 2010.

The weekend not only forms the start of the 2010 season, but is also the launch of the brand new Formula Renault 2.0 in the Northern European Cup. After an eventful winter season, the NEC organization is proud to welcome eight of these promising race cars to the series. The championship will also count nine cars of the previous edition (2009), referred to as Formula Renault 2000, and will be honoured with own standings and podium ceremonies.

The Hockenheim Historic weekend has always been an impressive event and forms one of the high lights of the tracks calendar. The event was initiated to honour Jim Clark and has grown to be one of the top events in German historic racing. In addition to the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, the programme offers the audience extraordinary cars, such as FIA Historic Formula One, Boss GP and the Interseries.

Formula Renault 2.0 NEC will start its calendar during the free practice on Thursday the 15th of April with a 30-minute session of free practice. After another free practice on Friday morning, it will be time to qualify at noon that same day. The first race of 2010 is set for Saturday at 10.10; the second on will follow on Sunday, at 10.45 in the morning.

After the first round on the new World Series by Renault track, the whole Northern European Cup paddock will move eastwards to the Czech Republic. Just a week after the season start in Hockenheim, NEC will visit Brno for the second round of the championship (23 - 25 of April).
