Full Programme for the Northern European Cup in Finland

Formula Renault 2.0 NEC gets ready for two testing days and a full race weekend in Alastaro, Finland. Wednesday the 10th and Thursday 11th of June are reserved to make a considerable amount of kilometers at racing speed, in order to achieve the maximum result during the races scheduled for Saturday 13 and Sunday 14th of June.

The Alastaro Circuit is the most northern location for the Cup this year and lies in the south-east of Finland, 160 kilometers from its capital Helsinki. The track of 3 kilometer is in full use year round, varying from rallying in the deep winter to truck races and formula cars in spring and summer.

The NEC will participate in the RATA SM weekend, from Friday the 12th of June until Sunday the 14th, and shares the paddock with the Nordic GT3, the Finnish Formula Ford and Formula Renault 2.0. Besides this already impressive collection of cars, the Finnish Supertouring, BMW Extreme and Truck races complete the programme for the second weekend of June.

As WorldSeries by Renault will enjoy its 3rd round of the season on the Hungaroring in Budapest at the same time as the NEC race in Alastaro, the Northern European Cup will miss seven cars due to participation in the EUROCUP. Five Motopark cars and the two yellow racing cars of MP Motorsport will compete in Hungary for points in the European championship of Formula Renault 2.0. Drivers Dominik Brinkmann and Mathijs Harkema will also miss out on the 5th and 6th race in the 2009 season. However, NEC organization welcomes five cars from the Finnish Formula Renault 2.0 SM, which brings the number of cars back to a total of eighteen.

After two days of five hours each, the 2.0 litre formula cars of the NEC get another shot with free practice on Friday, before qualifying on Saturday morning. The first race starts at 15.00 PM Saturday afternoon, which leaves the teams enough time to prepare the cars again for the 6th race of the Cup at midday on Sunday the 14th.
