Johan Jokinen now second overall in the Northern European Cup Formula Renault 2.0

With two 4th positions in last weekend's two races at Zandvoort in Holland Jokinen continued with good results in the strong field of 26 drivers.

"I went to Zandvoort with the goal of getting two podiums, but I'm quite satisfied with my two 4th places considering the circumstances. Due to red flag during the first qualification I only had one full lap, and even had to overtake in that lap, and in the second qualification I never got the tyres properly warmed up because of traffic. Qualification is very important in Zandvoort, it being so difficult to overtake on this circuit with its many corners. On top of that my starts didn't succeed 100 % and I lost too much time in order to reach the podium this time", says Johan.

"But again I got some very important points and am looking forward to the next two races at Alastaro in Finland. I'm now second overall in the series, and there are still 12 races to go, so it's still an open competition."

Jokinen's team manager Timo Rumpfkeil from Motopark Academy had the following comment after the race: "The NEC-series this year is the strongest ever, and the level among the drivers is very high. Johan is an extremely talented driver, and he has done very well in the first four races. He's constantly developing and it's only a question of time when he will take his first win."

The next two races of NEC will take place at Alastaro in Finland on June 14th and 15th.
