Team Autotecnica recently signed on Lorenzo Mandarino and Antonie Bessette to race in the 2003 Fran-Am World Championship Winter Series.

Mandarino, the 16 year old Canadian star, who won last year's 2002 Jim Russell Runoff, is considered to be one of the best new talented drivers on the circuit. Mandarino is expected to be a Fran-Am front runner next season. Mandarino joined Team Autotecnica after three successful testing sessions in Sebring, Moroso and Carolina. He impressed the team with strong performances and showed a very professional approach for his age.

Mandarino will be the ace of the "Autotecnica Driver Development Program", whose focus is to develop the very best young talent to prepare for and eventually compete in the CART and Formula One series.

Team Manager Anthony Wei said, "We are extremely happy for the conclusion of this agreement. We are more than proud to have such a talented driver. Mandarino is one of the most promising and talented new Canadian drivers and has shown brilliant performances in Formula Renault 2000 testing. We will do our best to help him achieve his goals. We are confident that Mandarino's performance will excel in the 2003 Championship."
