Ten teams entered for 2007
A total of ten teams and 22 cars have now confirmed that they will take part in the 2007 Eurocup Megane Trophy.
The Organizing Committee, made up of Philippe Talou-Derible (VP Sales and Marketing, Renault Sport), Francois Sicard (Circuit Racing Manager, Renault Sport), Jaime Alguersuari (President, RPM Racing) and Jordi Castells (Motorsport Director, RPM Racing), have reviewed the registration requests from teams wishing to take part in the 2007 Eurocup Megane Trophy.
The ten teams in the 2007 line-up are as follows (in alphabetical order):
- Blue Jumeirah Team (ESP/1 car)
- Equipe Verschuur (NED/4 cars)
- Oregon Team (ITA/2 cars)
- Race Performance (SUI/1 car)
- Racing for Belgium (BEL/2 cars)
- Sesterheim Racing (GER/1 car)
- TDS (FRA/3 cars)
- Team Lompech Sport (FRA/2 cars)
- Tech 1 Racing (FRA/4 cars)
- Thierry Boutsen Energy Racing (BEL/2 cars)
Several teams have already announced their driver line-up. Junior and Teams title winners in 2006, Tech 1 Racing will once again be putting its faith in young drivers, with Matthieu Lahaye, Dimitri Enjalbert, Pedro Petiz and Sebastien Dhouailly, all entered in the Junior category.
Equipe Verschuur, defending champion Jaap van Lagen's team in 2006, pursue their participation in the Eurocup with Bernhard Ten Brinke, who will be joined by rookies Mike Verschuur, Wim Beelem and a fourth, as yet unconfirmed, driver.
Having been forced to bring his 2006 season to a premature end when leading the championship, Ludovic Badey will make an eagerly awaited comeback with TDS, who have also recruited Mathieu Cheruy and Jean-Philippe Madonia.
Thierry Boutsen Energy Racing a new team formed from the merger of TBR and Energy Racing was the first team to announce its driver line-up. The young Belgian drivers Soulet and Martin will be looking to take full advantage of the opportunity offered by the regulations. The team's second car may also be shared between Renaud Kuppens and a team mate.
Lone drivers in their teams, Ralph Meichtry (Race Performance), Andreas Mayerl (Sesterheim Racing) and Rafael Unzurrunzaga (Blue Jumeirah) will also be staying faithful to the Eurocup Megane Trophy. After taking part in a few test sessions in 2006, Jean-Charles Miginiac will be racing for the full season with Team Lompech Sport.
The first collective test sessions of the year will be held at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit on March 29-30.
