In the 2.0 litre category, later in the day, New Zealander Chris van der Drift (JD Motorsport) increased his series leader with a convincing victory, after his main rival Dani Clos (Jenzer Motorsport) had a torrid time. The Spaniard started the race from the back of the grid, but had climbed as high as 11th by the end.

Unfortunately for him, it wasn't enough to score any points, though it was quite a recovery drive. Just outside the top three there was a titanic struggle for positions, with Atte Mustonen (Jenzer Motorsport) impressing on his debut with the team, though the pressure eventually proved too much for the teenager, and a variety of drivers including the improbably Belgian, Bertrand Baguette, trading places in some thrilling close quarters racing. And for the record, Swiss Rahel Frey (Jenzer Motorsport) is apparently the first woman to score points in the category, finishing 9th after riding the coattails of Clos to begin with, but then making her own way into the points after a very mature drive.
