Arthur still in the running for the title

Getting back into harness after two months' holiday isn't always easy, and Arthur Pic admitted he had problems getting back into the rhythm of things at Hockenheim. He scored two third places, which means that he is still in the running for the title.

This season, Arthur is the pole position king in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, but he had to make do with fourth and third places on the grid for this weekend's two races at Hockenheim. He pulled back a place at the start of race 1 and finished third. He was under attack from all sides in the Spitzkerr hairpin, but he kept his head and fended off Hylkema and Weckstrom. It soon became obvious that he was not in a position to take the fight to Korjus and Vainio who had hit the front. "Kevin won three races in the Northern European Cup last weekend at Most, and I was a bit rusty. The best thing to do was to ensure a podium finish."

Race 2 on Sunday followed the same pattern as race 1. Pic held third from start to finish behind Korjus and Vainio. He is currently 21 points behind Korjus, and has 21 points in hand over Bacheta. In terms of podiums, the Estonian and the Frenchman are on level pegging with eight each. Korjus has scored six victories compared to the Frenchman's four. Arthur has set four fastest laps in the races, and has bagged 7 pole positions compared to Kevin's one and two. But since the start of the year points are no longer awarded for pole.

"Stand up! You are condemned to win from now on!" This pitiless sentence doesn't put Arthur off. "I think I'm still in with a good chance of winning the title, and I feel confident for the next round at Silverstone." The Tech 1 Racing driver has good memories of his trip to England last year. Rendezvous on 18th -19th September for the next episode in this thrilling championship battle.
