It is with great pleasure that I can inform each of you from various sectors of the media that 19-year old Aucklander Dominic Storey (www.dominicstorey.com) is to compete in the 2009 Formula Renault Eurocup and the 2009 Formula Renault Western European Championship with SG Formula (www.sgformula.com). This, as many of you will know, is the championship in which Brendon Hartley took overall spoils in 2008 and is the breeding ground for the future of Formula One and the most important predecessor to the European Formula 3 Championship and beyond.

Dominic (former graduate of Formula BMW Asia and the Toyota Racing Series) has been taken on in a managerial sense by SG Formula founder Stephane Guerin -- who is also behind Formula One hopefuls such as Romain Grosjean -- to compete in a generously funded seat in arguably the top team in the Eurocup series, with a goal of progressing through to Formula 3 Euroseries in 2010/2011.

Dominic's story is a touching one. He travelled to France mid-way through 2008 with nothing more than optimism, hope and a spare change of clothes as he looked for the next step in his career. He quickly met many influential European teams and personnel and, literally on the 'smell of an oily rag', remained in Europe until Christmas, linking up with and testing for SG Formula throughout his stay. His impressive test pace in the full Eurocup field, and the quick forging of solid a working relationship with SG Formula engineers has been a catalyst in Dominic being given the opportunity of a lifetime -- to chase his Formula One dream, starting now.
