March3 Racing Shined In Shanghai International Circuit
The second race of Asian Formula Renault Championship came to Shanghai International Circuit on the weekend of April 19/20th.
In Saturday's qualifying, the hard rain influenced most of the competitors except March3's brave drivers. Five of the total six racing cars had occupied the Top 5 of the qualifying sheet.
[IMAGE]The first race on Sunday morning seemed to be the competition between March3 drivers. 17-year-old Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist who was the 4th in last year's Asian Formula Renault Challenge, had excellent performance in this round, started from 4th and occupied the leading position in 2 laps, with his sober driving and decisive overtakes. And his compatriot, another 17-year-old Swedish boy, Fredrik Blomstedt, started from 5th, closely followed his friend to be the runner-up. French driver Benjamin Rouget who got the pole yesterday was the poor person overtaken by Swedish boys, and because of his little mistake, lost his 3rd positions passed by Mathias Beche-Aussel from Champ Motorsports. Zhang Zhendong, the young Chinese driver had a poor start from 5th to 8th, but with his efforts, finished by 6th, which was the highest ranking of all the Asian drivers. The most unfortunate driver was Zhu Daiwei, he felt the pressure given by his teammates from the very start and after the Swedish boys passing by, he dropped to 5th, what was more unfortunate was that a drastic collision happened between JIM Ka To from Frestech FRD Team and him, both of them stopped in the corner. The following red flag gave the ending of this race in lap 7. The young girl Samin Gomez Briceno from Venezuela kept her position of 16th until the finish line.
The second race in the afternoon was not as surprising as the first one. The grid positions of this round were decided by the first race results. Two Swedish boys kept their leading positions all the time without any threatens. Benjamin Rouget, even overtaken by Geoffrey KWONG, still got the 4th due to Mathias Beche-Aussel's dropping. Poor start happened to Zhang Zhendong again, after the first lap, he dropped to 13th, but his brave character gave him enough energy to overtake,7th was his final [IMAGE]position which was the third one in Asian category. Today's luck did not seem to favor Zhu Daiwei, the quick reparations of his car made him continue to participate in the second round, but in lap 3, he stopped on the track after a sudden slipping. The race continued after 3 lap's safety car leading, but Zhu Daiwei had no choice but quit the race. Samin Gomez Briceno made a promotion of 3 places in this round.
Generally, in Sunday's races, March3 racing has occupied top2 of the International category in both rounds and 1 champions, 1 3rd of Asian category, outstanding in all teams. What is most valuable is that even some changes have happened to the racing drivers, the whole team continues to keep its harmonious unity and good competition.
Davide Gobbi, Chief Racing Operator of March3 said after races, the excellent results once again proved March3's power in Asian Motor sport. But what we consider more important are the drivers' improvements in races. The six drivers this year are all below 20-year-old, we do hope our professionalism could be useful to their career developments and I do believe that in the near future they will have a much bigger stage!
