AFR championship gets ready for Chengdu Race!

After the last very dramatic AFR races at Shanghai International Circuit, the Championship will attend this weekend's Challenge Show (C1) race event at Chengdu International Circuit (CDIC), September 12th & 13th.

The championship features seven top single-seater race teams in Asia: Asia Racing Team (ART), March 3 racing team (M3), Top Speed racing team, PTRS racing team, Ghiasports racing team, Champ Motorsports and FRD Racing team. Young drivers from 10 different countries and regions shall spare no effort to achieve better results, as half the season has finished. The Chengdu track is a very technical one and for most of the drivers, it will be their first race at CDIC. The AFR drivers all indicated that they were very excited to have the race on a new track.

After the Shanghai race, Alon Day, the young driver from Israel, successfully recaptured his lead on the International points table with 141 points in total. This dropped Benjamin Rouget, the French driver who achieved double wins in the Beijing rounds, to 2nd with 130 points. Luis SA SILVA, the young driver from Angola, managed to bring good news to Angolans with two winner trophies gained in Shanghai's most recent AFR weekend, to move him to 3rd in points. In the Asian Category, Zhang Zhiqiang, the young Chinese driver from March 3 racing team, leads the points while Tengyi Jiang, FRD racing team's driver from Shanghai, is 2nd. Zhang Shanqi, the young driver from PTRS racing team, is 3rd.

For the 2009 season, various teams and drivers have taken turns leading the points table, which leaves prospects for the title winner a mystery.
