Big sized Asia Racing Team eager for victories in Zhuhai
This weekend (18th / 19th September) Asia Racing Team will be competing in the fourth round of the AFR Championship on the Zhuhai circuit in China with no less than six drivers. The season is now entering the home straight and the coming races will be crucial in deciding the outcome.
Leading the Asia Racing Team six cars pack into battle is the championship leader Sandy Stuvik, whose 27-point advantage looks comfortable but is by no means unassailable. After six consecutives second-place finishes, the 15 years old Thai is yet to win in the AFR Championship. Stuvik is chasing his maiden win at the same track he claimed his first ever race in single seaters on April 2010.
Tin Sritrai is looking for the first podium finish of his AFR Championship career in this weekend's Pan Delta Super Racing Weekend. Son of a famous former Thai rally driver, Sritrai has been missing a podium place since the season started. Now the Khon Kaen born driver has no excuses to not shine in the Chinese circuit he knows better.
Alongside the Thai duo in the Asia Racing Team garage will be Chi Cong Li, one of the Chinese drivers taking part in the event. The Guangzhou driver, already a race winner in AFR Championship, driver will be aiming for a return to the podium at Zhuhai, having last sprayed the winner champagne at the Zhuhai Circuit in May.
Chengdu and Shanghai race meetings were great experiences for the single seater rookie Naomi Zhang Ran. Zhuhai Circuit hosted most of the Beijing born racer training, and she knows she has a chance here to bolt from the blue.
Suriya Bala makes a happy return to the Formula Renault and to Zhuhai track where he recorded his first podium in Formula Renault 2.0. The Singaporean racer stormed to two-second place last time out, and is fired up to add to his tally at Zhuhai.
Last but not least, Luca Ferigutti will return to the cockpit of the #27 "white arrow" after six months break due to professional commitments. The Swiss Italian driver settled in Hong Kong, who won the second race of the Formula Renault Winter Cup non-championship event in April, aims to return to the podium and has nothing to lose.
Round 7 & 8 of the AFR Championship will take place as part of the Autumn Pan Delta Super Racing Festival at the Zhuhai International Circuit. A field of approaching 16 cars is expected at Zhuhai.
