"Two Fifths equals Sixth For Dempsey"

Two fifth places at Silverstone on Sunday 9th September has moved Keith Dempsey into an amazing 6th place in the British Formula Renault Championship, having not competed in the first five rounds.

The KTK Sand and Gravel supported driver qualified 6th for race one in a damp qualifying session and was disappointed not to be in the top three having started his last lap of qualifying in 3rd place, only to get held up by two drivers for what turned out to be the fastest lap for most drivers on a drying track, dropping him back to 6th.

Race one saw Keith's Irish Ferries Formula Renault hold position in 6th place until five laps from the end, when championship contender Danny Watts spun out of second place down to 6th behind Dempsey but the young Ashbourne driver was quicker than the British driver and pulled away to finish a fine 5th place. This would be his starting position for race two.

With some set up changes to Keiths Richmond Recruitment car was even more competitive for race two. At the start he shot into 3rd place with an amazing first few corners and was holding off championship leader Carl Breese , when a fuel pick up problem intervened dropping him back to 5th.

But when the championship points were worked out Keith was delighted to find himself in 6th place.

Keith's next race is in Donnington Park on September 23rd .
