Zeta Corse rounded out the Spanish weekend of the World Series by Renault 3.5 with a positive Race 2 result at Alcaniz. Crowd favorite Roberto Merhi put together an awesome recovery and captured 6th place from the 7th row on the grid, while 19-year-old Russian Roman Mavlanov ended up in 15th.

Roberto Merhi continued in his consistent streak of points finishes. The Spaniard, who had qualified in 15th, was off to a spectacular start and hit the top-10 right at the first corner. Then, with another brilliant move on Sorensen, he got set for the following step when he emerged from the pit-lane in 6th. In the closing stages, Mehri comfortably held off his Danish rival to hand Zeta corse their second good result of the weekend, also capturing third place among rookies.

Russian youngster Roman Mavlanov experienced a consistent day. After a good start, he kept the pace of the pack, continuing to learn how to deal with the tough F.Renault 3.5 race car and constantly improving his lap times. The World Series by Renault will now be back for the fascinating Monte Carlo Grand Prix where Merhi and Mavlanov will face the complications - but also the opportunities - of a tricky street course.

Roberto Merhi (Q2 P15; R2 P6): "I had a very good start and the race played out well for us. The team did a nice job in the pits so I was able to recover both on-track and during the pit-stop. On the other hand, we aren’t where we want yet especially in qualifying, when both me and my team-mate have to play catch up compared to our opponents. We still have to work in that direction to be competitive for the rest of the season."

Roman Mavlanov (Q2 P21; R2 P15): "I’m pretty satisfied with how the weekend played out. Once again we had the speed during the race and I’m constantly learning new things all the time. Now we have to improve our qualifying pace because it’s a very important aspect. I also want to improve myself as I made a couple of small mistakes today, but overall I feel good and I think that I can catch up further during the rest of the season."
