Zeta Corse and Martsenko leave an impression in Aragon testing
Zeta Corse successfully completed the day's programme and registered very encouraging performances from both Nikolay Martsenko and Roman Mavlanov.
Zeta Corse experienced a trouble-free day of running in Motorland Aragon, where F.Renault 3.5 held session 3 and 4 of the season's final three-day test. On a cloudy and cold day at the Spanish track, the team managed by Claudio Corradini successfully completed the day's programme and registered very encouraging performances from both Nikolay Martsenko and Roman Mavlanov.
After completing just 20 system-check laps yesterday, Martsenko today upped his game with a consistent drive that allowed him to close the morning session in 11th place and then post the 5th quickest time (1'39"794) in the afternoon, just 0.07 shy of 3rd place.Mavlanov, on the team's other car, kept working with the team's technical staff to find the right feeling with the Michelin-shod Dallara on new rubber, and boasted a solid progression. In the morning he improved his best laptime from yesterday by three tenths, while in the afternoon he shaved another 5 tenths from his morning time to close the day in P18 with a 1'40"510.
Now the team is ready to tackle the third and final day of testing: Roman Mavlanov will be back on track on the #23 car, while number #24 will be driven by Australian youngster Jordan Oon.
Claudio Corradini - Team Manager: "We did a really good job today, with both our drivers. In the morning we did some setup work with Nikolay, choosing a solution that proved to be perfect to go for performance in the afternoon. We could have been even a bit quicker, but P5 is something we can be happy with. Roman did an amazing job too, he's building more and more confidence with the car and his performances are better and more consistent. We'll try to keep momentum for tomorrow, the final act of our 2013 season".
