At 5.30 PM, when the checkered flag closed the third day of testing in Motorland Aragon, the F.Renault 3.5 season officially came to an end. Draco Racing performed well in the final act of the year, carrying out a flawless job despite some very difficult weather conditions, with track temperatures as low as 7°C and strong wind.
Pietro Fantin, at his third day with the team, worked hard to complete the working schedule that was set-up on Wednesday, and he did that in style. In the morning session he posted the 5th quickest time just 0"345 shy of P1, while in the afternoon he finished in the top 10 (P10) despite being hampered by a broken exhaust pipe. The team was impressed by Fantin's commitment and professionalism and is looking forward to other chances to work with the Brazilian talent. On this third and final day of running, Draco's other car was driven by series newcomer Meindert Van Buuren. The Dutchman's aim was to get acquainted with the car, and the 1"5 improvement between Session 1 and Session 2 was a great achievement for a rookie.
Simone Giglio - Team Manager: "With this last day of testing we close our 2013, and I'm glad to say that it was a great year for us. Today was a good day too, the programme we did with Pietro throughout the whole test paid dividends, and our performance could have been even better without that exhaust issue.
Anyway, our aim was to build a strong relationship between Pietro and the team, and that was achieved without a single doubt. Meindert did a good job too, he needed time to adapt to carbon brakes, something that is especially tricky on such a cold day, but he showed good promise: in the afternoon he halved his gap from the frontrunners, so he's on the right path".
